Mini DV

Mini DV was a popular digital tape format used within camcorders. If you had a camcorder from 2000 onwards, it is likely to be of this format. The popularity of Mini DV came from two sources, the very high quality of video produced, and the small size of the cassettes allowed for efficient storage and a more compact device. The only way for people to view their tapes is through the camcorder itself, or from a professional tape deck (which are both rare and very expensive). Instead, have them transferred by us so you can view them without the hassle of finding your camcorder and plugging it in every time.

As Mini DV is a digital format, we transfer these tapes through a purely digital process which means there is no loss of audio or picture quality during the digitisation process.

DVCAM

DVCAM is a semi-professional or small studio digital tape format which offers the same performance as Mini DV but is designed to be more rugged and reliable. DVCAM recordings can even be made on standard Mini DV casettes, or the larger DV tapes, although people usually use the dedicated DVCAM cassette, carrying the DVCAM logo.
